Microneedling or Medical skin-needling, (also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy or Dermarollering) is a long-established procedure used to treat a wide range of skin issues, such as acne scarring, changes in skin tone & texture, sun-damage or ageing skin, as well as lines and wrinkles on the face and décolletage.

During the microneedling treatment, the practitioner embeds tiny needles into the skin using the skinpen, creating thousands of micro-medical needle-columns; each microscopic needle-column (approximately 0.1mm in width) penetrates into the dermis of the skin. Although tiny, the needle-columns stimulate the process of repair and regeneration within the body, encouraging new cell growth, smoothing out lines, wrinkles and scars to improve the appearance of skin tone and texture. Depending on the patient’s individual skin complaint, the practitioner can adjust the speed, intensity and depth of the treatment. Although the process of cell regeneration starts to occur soon after the treatment, results won’t be fully visible for six weeks. During this time, collagen production is increased, skin cell regeneration occurs and blood supply to the surface of the skin is enhanced, bringing about a natural and long-lasting improvement to the look and feel of skin. Generally, we recommend a series of three treatments, with at least six weeks between each. Depending on your particular skin complaint we may recommend further treatment if necessary.
